The Italian custom of having a drink and light fare before supper is known as aperitivo. Although superior, it is comparable to American happy hour.
Even though it started in the North, aperitivo is a custom that is practiced all across Italy. Italians have the aperitivo generally before dinner and it lasts from roughly 6 pm to around 9 pm. A drink, typically wine or a bitter cocktail, and some light fare are included with aperitivo. This could be snacks presented to the table or possibly a full buffet.
A normal aperitivo costs between 8 and 10 euros, including food and wine. In contrast to happy hour, where drinks are discounted, a special offer is made by including food. Simply take a plastic plate and fork and head to the buffet after placing your drink order, where you can select any meal you wish.
Although the purpose of aperitivo is to rev up your metabolism before dinner, there are occasions when there is so much food available that aperitivo can take the place of supper. Tourists should at least once try it because it is a truly Italian experience! While waiting for dinner, inding a place for an aperitivo is perfect for relaxation, people-watch, enjoying a tasty beverage, and munching on some appetizers.
