DAY 1: PALERMO AND ITS DISTRICTS
We begin this Sicilian weekend by immersing ourselves in Palermo's culture. You will take part in a walking tour of Palermo's historic centre, discovering the symbolic places of civil anti-mafia and the rebellion against racketeering. This is a new way of visiting Palermo, where each stop offers the cue for a reflection on the mafia phenomenon and civil mobilisation against mafia power. By participating in the tour you will donate a solidarity fee in favour of the Addiopizzo Committee's anti-mafia activities. Lunch and free time.
For the afternoon, we have planned an independent visit to Palermo Cathedral (open until 7pm) or to the Vucciria market. In Palermo, this term means hubbub, no doubt due to the loud hubbub that is usually made at the market.
Free dinner and overnight stay on request.
DAY 2: E-BIKE TOUR OF THE MADONIE PARK
Discover all the secrets of the Madonie Park together with a local tour leader. This particular area is home to the oldest rocks in Sicily, formed during the Triassic period, documented by numerous fossils, sponges, and seaweed along the mountain range. You will enjoy an evocative bike tour, amidst unspoilt nature and a short stop at a characteristic mountain refuge. Please note that the tour is available from 1 April to 4 November. Free lunch.
In the afternoon, those who want to relax can do so on the beach, while those hungry to get to know the most authentic part of Palermo can do so in the Arab quarter of Albergheria with the Ballarò market. Free dinner and overnight stay on request.
