Burano is well known for its lace-making and for the brightly-colored fishermen’s houses. Here neighbourly ladies invite the most curious visitors to come into their shops and admire the lace working.
The typical Burano's houses are squared-shaped and divided into two or three floors. Usually, at the low ground there is the kitchen, the breakfast table and the toilet. At the next floors there are the bedrooms.
The different colours of the houses, which today represent the island main feature, at a previous time were used to delimit the properties. An old legend narrates that fishermen painted their houses so they could see them from long distance when they were far away for fishing. La gita è andata bene ma è durata mezz'ora in meno del previsto, avendo tolto 15 min di sosta a Murano e Burano. Quindi non posso considerarmi pienamente soddisfatta.
