Full Description

Get the magic of the island of Capri and of its stunning views. Exploring on a boat the sea cave Blue Grotto is simply breathtaking!

Escape the city for a full-day tour to the stunning island of Capri — a gem of the Tyrrhenian Sea known for its vibrant blue waters, dramatic cliffs, elegant streets, and rich Roman history. Your day begins early in the morning with a convenient pickup from your centrally located hotel in Rome or at a designated meeting point, where you’ll meet your expert tour leader. Sit back and relax aboard a comfortable coach or minivan as you travel south through the scenic Roman countryside and the Castelli Romani region, heading toward the coastal city of Naples. In Naples, take in views of the Mediterranean Sea, Mount Vesuvius, and historic landmarks before boarding a ferry for a one-hour crossing to the island of Capri. As you approach, admire the island’s signature white limestone cliffs rising above the aquamarine sea — a truly breathtaking welcome. Upon arrival in Capri, follow your enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide through the island’s charming alleys and iconic Piazzetta, the social heart of the island. Enjoy panoramic views of the Faraglioni rock formations, and learn about the island's fascinating blend of natural beauty and imperial Roman history. The highlight of the day is the visit to the world-famous Blue Grotto, a magical sea cave once used as a marine temple during Roman times. According to legend, Emperor Tiberius used it as his private swimming spot. Today, visitors can only enter by small rowboat, guided by local experts. Once inside, marvel at the intense blue glow — created by sunlight passing through an underwater opening — that illuminates the cave in surreal shades of blue and emerald. After an unforgettable afternoon exploring Capri, you’ll return by ferry to Naples and travel back to Rome, arriving in the evening with memories of one of Italy’s most captivating islands.

Additional Information

The Blue Grotto visit depends on weather and sea conditions. If it is not possible to access it, we will replace it with the imposing "Faraglioni" (rocky rocks). Hotel pick-up service begins at 6:00 AM. Guests are kindly requested to contact us at rome@grayline.com or at 0039 06 474 2501 within 24 hours of the tour start time to confirm the pick-up time.
