With our Siena-San Gimignano-Chianti Day Tour from Pisa, you will discover two beautiful medieval towns in Tuscany in a small group. In addition, you will enjoy a unique Chianti wine tasting at a local winery in the typical Tuscan countryside.
In order to reach the villages of Siena and San Gimignano, we will travel through the Tuscan countryside. There you will feel as if time had stopped.
San Gimignano: Discover The History of Tuscany Locals often referring to San Gimignano as the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages”. Indeed, you will see its singular skyline when we drive towards the town. There were more than 70 towers originally, a symbol of wealth. However, San Gimignano will surprise you not only for its ancient traditions but also for the tasty wine and food offer. In fact, the town of San Gimignano is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.
After visiting San Gimignano, we will drive through the countryside to Siena. You will love this old town with its medieval walls and its narrow streets, full of typical restaurants. You will start your tour in the suggestive shell-shaped Piazza del Campo. This square is very famous for the traditional horse race called Palio. This historical race is very important for locals and many visitors come here to join the event twice a year. Our guide will tell you about this old tradition and the competing contrade (town’s districts). Indeed, the Palio is not only a horse race, but it originates from these old rivalries. During your free time, you can visit the stunning cathedral of Siena, the Duomo (entrance is not included). You can admire the superb marble panels covering its entire floor. Around 40 different artists worked on this mosaic between the 14th and the 16th century. Enjoy authentic Chianti and other good Italian wines in a typical cellar! If you say Italy, you say Wine. Chianti is probably the most famous Tuscan wine all over the world. However, it is not the only wine in Tuscany. Discover the Taste of the Original Extra Virgin Olive Oil!
In order to enjoy a classic Italian apéritif, you can combine your wine with some pecorino cheese and a slice of bread with local Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
