Full Description

Visit the historic center of Naples in the company of a local guide, setting out to discover the history of this wonderful old town. Admire an 18th-century masterpiece, the "Veiled Christ," a sculpture preserved today from the Sansevero Chapel.

Naples is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating historic centers in southern Italy. Resulting from the union of different cultures and traditions, the city presents a historical, artistic and cultural heritage that would make the heart of any history and art lover beat faster.

Our tour will start from Piazza del Gesù, in front of the red tourist information building, where our expert guide will be waiting for you to begin this wonderful experience. You will not simply get to explore the city, but thanks to the knowledge that only an authentic local guide can impart, you will also discover the secret and unseen aspects of Naples.

Our first stop is the Church of Jesus, where you will be able to admire the works produced during the 16th-17th centuries, a period known as "Baroque," under the banner of an artistic movement marked by aesthetic, ideological, cultural but above all artistic value.

You will have the opportunity to access the Basilica of Santa Chiara, where you can see live the monuments of the Angevin kings, dating back to the 14th century.

After the visit, you will walk along Spaccanapoli, the famous street that, just as its name states, divides the city in two.

Our second stop is in San Gregorio Armeno, where you can observe the art of nativity scenes, a centuries-old tradition. We'll take a coffee break at one of the most popular coffee bars in the area, where you can try and savor one of Italy's most intense and strongest espressos, the Neapolitan espresso.

Upon entering the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (or more simply Duomo di San Gennaro), our guide will tell you the story of San Gennaro and his miraculous act, the prodigy of blood.

Our last stop, however, will be the Sansevero Chapel, whose fame is such because of Prince Raimondo di Sangro, who, in addition to his official title, was also an esotericist, anatomist, patron of the arts, and a scholar of the European Enlightenment. He himself commissioned and designed the Chapel, making it one of the most important architectural and artistic monuments of the time. Here, you will find one of the world's most famous and striking marble sculptures by Giuseppe Sanmartino, the "Veiled Christ."

I would have like more time to actually see the place and not just stand at tge door listening to the explanations. Although the part at Sansevero chapel was great. Also, 30 people for guide is a bit too much.
