Full Description
With our Chianti Lovers Tour from Lucca you will spend a lovely day in the Chianti Region of Tuscany, well known everywhere for its wine production. Here you will visit two different wineries and enjoy some Chianti and Supertuscan wine tasting together.
- Our Chianti Lovers Tour from Lucca will allow you to spend a lovely day in the Tuscan countryside. You will learn more about the Chianti region and about the traditional winemaking process. You will be introduced to the Italian Wine regulation system and know more about the different wine qualities. At the end of our tour, you will be a real expert, and you will know the differences between DOCG, DOC and IGT wines.
- The Chianti Region is divided into 8 districts. We consider the Chianti Classico region to be the father of all of them. This area is located between Florence and Siena. The definition of Supertuscan wine was born as an unofficial wine categorization, but today it is covered by the appellation of IGT wines. This variety used to be produced in small quantities and, for this reason, it is not often exported abroad. Supertuscan is a combination of local grape varieties (Sangiovese) with uncommon blends in Tuscany, like Merlot or Cabernet. You will find out more about this wine during our tour.
- Meeting point
- We will start our Chianti and SuperTuscan Tour and we will drive to the heart of Chianti
- First Winery
- 10:30 am – We will reach the first winery, a small-medium one producing good quality wine. You will learn about winemaking and visit the wine cellar. An expert will inform you about all the different wines during the tasting. The good Chianti and Supertuscan wines will be served with local appetizers like salami, ham, and pecorino cheese. You will taste also Extra Virgin Olive Oil and enjoy your day tour in the countryside.
- Second Winery
- 1:40 pm – We reach the second winery selected for you. This is a more modern one, but at the same time still bound to the tradition. It reflects the common winery today in Tuscany, with a range of high quality wines. You will get information in English and enjoy another unique wine tasting before driving back to Lucca.
- Return to Lucca
- 5:30 pm. We will drop off you in the same place you have been picked up.
