Full Description
Lucca's countryside is the perfect setting for cycling excursions and is easily accessible from the city center.
Thanks to the Serchio river cycle path, in fact, you can avoid crowd and road traffic, reaching the area of historic villas in a short time, where you can admire some of the most beautiful ancient houses in Tuscany: Villa Oliva, Villa Grabau and Villa Reale.
In particular, we will walk around the wonderful park of Villa Reale, among refined Italian gardens, sculptures, and noble buildings. Villa Reale is a national monument since it was the royal palace during the brief reign of Elisa Bonaparte (Napoleon's sister) as princess of Lucca from 1806 until 1814, when she had to leave the villa after Napoleon's fall. Villa Reale is 10 km from the city centre and therefore easily accessible by bicycle. This is a truly unique stop to add to our itinerary, for those who love historic gardens. If you have ever been to the Boboli Gardens in Florence and enjoyed them, the Villa Reale gardens are no less!
You can make a stop, so you can take a moment for yourself, admiring the beauty surrounding you, and transporting you back in time
Relax on the green meadow or for a break at the villa cafè, to drink a typical Italian espresso or cappuccino, before coming back to Lucca.
