Abruzzo - weekend on a Vespa

The fascinating area of Abruzzo represents for Gabriele D’Annunzio an essential element, who always have had a strong bond with his native land. The Poet had spent the early years in Pescara – his birthplace in a house, which is a museum today. Another beloved places are certainly Abbazia di San Clemente in Casauria and Convento Michetti in Francavilla. And finally a magic place that confirms the great love towards his land is San Vito Chietino on the Costa dei Trabocchi. First day: Arrival in Popoli - Francavilla al Mare. Description: Departure from Popoli to travel in the saddle of the Vespa along the clear waters of the river Tirino. The trip will goes along the Tiburtina up to Chieti where it will be possible to visit the places of interest. Through Ripa Teatina (birthplace of Rocky Marciano) we will arrive in Francavilla al Mare. Dinner and overnight.. KM stage : 80 Second day: Francavilla al Mare Round Trip. Description: During this route we will visit the Hermitage of D’Annunzio in Sant'Apollinare in San Vito Chietino, where there is a plaque showing a passage taken from the novel "La Vergine Anna", and set in this area on the Costa dei Trabocchi. Return towards Pescara to visit "Casa Natale di Gabriele D'Annunzio" museum. Return to Francavilla al Mare. Dinner and overnight.
