Palermo on the mafia tour
Take part in the walking tour through the historic center of Palermo to discover the symbolic places of the civil anti-Mafia struggle and resistance to the protection money system. It is a new way of visiting Palermo, where each stage offers an opportunity to reflect on the phenomenon of the mafia and civil mobilization against mafia power.
A three-hour walk accompanied by the stories of those who experience the city on a daily basis to get to know it in its true essence, beyond the clichés. A true participatory experience in Palermo.
The meeting point is in Piazza Verdi, opposite the Teatro Massimo, a place that for many is associated with the screening of the film The Godfather, to show you a new image of Palermo.
We move on foot towards the Murale della Legalità as far as Piazza Beati Paoli to recount the legendary (and unfounded) connection between the sect from Natoli's novel and the Cosa Nostra, passing by the famous and picturesque Mercato del Capo.
We reach Piazza della Memoria with the monument to the judges murdered by the Mafia, behind the Court of Justice, and then on to the Cathedral, where we cover the theme of relations between the Mafia and the Catholic Church and the anti-Mafia commitment of martyrs such as Don Pino Puglisi.
And finally we reach the Town Hall, which for many years was the symbol of the connection between the Mafia and politics, but also experienced the era of the “Palermo Spring”.
The tour is also guaranteed with a minimum of 1 participant.
