Treat yourself to a wonderful view of the rolling Chianti hills and savor the best aromas your palate has ever tasted. For over 300 years, Chianti has been home to one of the world's noblest wines: Chianti Classico. myTour in Italy will accompany you to discover the Sangiovese, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot and many other varieties.
Siena, the Unesco World Heritage Site since 1995 and the cradle of the Palio, is the birthplace of St. Catherine of Siena: Patroness of Europe together with St. Francis of Assisi and the first woman awarded the title of Doctor of the Universal Church. St Catherine of Siena was canonized by Pope Pius II and recognised as the Patron Saint of Red Cross nurses. Just a 4-minute walk from the renowned Piazza del Campo you can enter the Sanctuary of St. Catherine in full Renaissance style.
Your journey will begin in Florence where you will meet our staff dressed in green. Our guides will be waiting for you at the Villa Costanza tram terminal at the end of Tramway T1, an easily accessible location. If you are traveling by car, you can also easily leave your car at Villa Costanza and use the refreshment facilities. On board, after the bus departs, we will show you step by step all the places you will visit. After about an hour, you will reach the fantastic city of Siena, known to all for its countryside and the Chianti wine tours it offers to its many visitors each year. The area encompasses numerous medieval and little villages that you can admire on some of our tours. Among the most impressive are the city of towers San Gimignano and the city walls of Monteriggioni where time seems to stand still. Many also recognise Monteriggioni for the Assassin's Creed video game series.
During your free time in the city, two unmissable stops for those who want to discover the art and historical beauty of Tuscany are the splendid Cathedral of Siena, one of the most significant in Italy, built in the Romanesque-Gothic style, and the horseshoe-shaped square, the scene of the famous Palio horse race in Siena. For history lovers, every Wednesday in Siena you can visit the Museum and Historical Archives of Banca Monte dei Paschi, founded in 1472 and considered the oldest still operating bank in the world.
As the last stop on our Siena and Chianti half-day wine tour, leaving the city of Siena behind, we will head to the wine estate, where expert oenologists will explain the origins of Chianti and Chianti Classico, the olfactory notes they give off and many other curiosities about the Black Rooster logo, an internationally recognised symbol today. Ending the day with a good glass of wine and some local products, letting yourself be overwhelmed by the atmosphere that this corner of Tuscany can give, is a priceless experience.
If you are on holiday in Chianti, the wine tours are among the activities you absolutely must not miss! The highlight of the tour is in fact the Chianti wine tasting, where your only task will be to let yourself be carried away by the particular flavors and intense aromas of the Chianti wines, without any worries, because your driver will be driving during each stage of the tour. Have you ever thought of walking down one of Tuscany's characteristic cypress avenues, like in one of those postcards they display outside any souvenir store? With us this is possible and more! You will moreover have the opportunity to visit a local winery and taste the typical wines that every connoisseur knows how to appreciate. You will be welcomed in a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, surrounded by an amazing and breathtaking landscape. Join this exclusive experience that only myTour in Italy can offer you. Our local guides will be able to take you on a journey in which family, tradition and country culture come together in an incredible mix of emotions.
After the food and wine experience, your journey back to Florence will begin, where the tour will end.
