Full Description

An authorized city guide will accompany you on a tour of Piazza dei Miracoli. The guided tour will include the exterior visit of the Leaning Tower, Monumental Cemetery, Cathedral and Baptistery.

Pisa is one of the most visited cities in Tuscany and it is famous for its Leaning Tower. The beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli is among the most beautiful monumental complexes in the world. The town’s most prosperous period was undoubtedly the 12th century and this is witnessed by the urban shape of the old town centre with many buildings, squares and alleyways that run along the Arno river, which was for centuries the major communication route. It has always been an estuary town and used to be an important naval base in Roman times intensifying trade in the Mediterranean. Pisa is also famous for one of the most prestigious higher learning institutions of Europe: the Scuola Normale Superiore. An authorised city guide will accompany you in the visit of the exterior of the Cathedral, Leaning Tower and Monumental Cemetery. At the end of the tour you will also have free time to wander in the square and take plenty of pictures.

Marta, translator, & driver were excellent. Very funny, knowledgeable, personable. If you just want to see a lot briefly this is for you. You can say you were there. If you like spending quality time at a site, choose a different tour. Your best strategy is choose 1 thing at each location & focus on that. There will not be time for anything else. The wine tasting at lunch was fun. It is something of a sales pitch as they are trying to get you to buy their wine and other products. They will ship items for you. The wine was very good and the balsamic vinegar was amazing. Our tour guide in Siena was very good. Didn't realize that we would not be able to tour in the cathedral. It was Sunday. would be nice if this was mentioned in the description. The bus offered a convenient and easy way to tour. My only suggestion would be for the tour to start in Pisa, the main thing we wanted to do. By the time we arrived it was getting dark and you couldn't see much. Overall, it was a good tour.
