Backpack and go for a trekking among nature, history, food, and wine in one of the “most beautiful villages of Italy "
Discover Castiglione di Sicilia, a delightful village founded by Greek colonists, set on a rock overlooking the Alcantara Valley. Breathtaking scenery, colors and lush orchards will accompany you throughout your experience.
The journey will start from the river, among the lava gorges carved by the water that have formed a unique and particular river landscape, passing by the Byzantine Cuba, the best preserved monument of the Byzantine period in Sicily.
The adventure continues as we head "into" the river for a refreshing river trek through the waters, which in summer become shallow, gentle and easy to navigate. Here you can relax in the shade of the rich vegetation.
We will then move on to discover the world of wine, learning about the particular history of this wine-growing area: we are in the land of Etna wines par excellence, and you will be fascinated by the geometric landscapes that form the vineyards, an evocative sight. Walk a little further and you will reach the place where you will have a break and enjoy an excellent lunch with a tasting of oil and typical local products.
The historic town of Castiglione di Sicilia, included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, still retains its medieval urban fabric. From here once again you will have the opportunity to admire a suggestive landscape, among monuments and glimpses of magnificent views of the Alcantara valley and Etna, until you reach the medieval castle where there will be a tasting. After satisfying our eyes and palate, we will walk along an ancient path through a beautiful Mediterranean wood that will take us back to the beginning of our route.
