Discover the beauties that the Etna volcano offers, visiting its splendid landscapes and tasting different typical products. The tour will then continue in the magical territory of Alcantara, between canyons and natural pools. A walk through nature, history and traditions!
The first stage of this tour is at an altitude of 2000 m, but during the journey, going up from the city, short intermediate stops will be made in some characteristic points. A guide will give information about the history of the volcano and the Etna area, and you will discover the latest eruptions and some ancient extinct craters. From here it will be possible to choose whether to continue trekking through one of the Paths of the Etna Park, at an altitude of 2000 meters, accompanied by a guide, or purchase the Etna high altitude option, which will allow you to reach the top of the volcano (3000 m) with special means and accompanied by a local mountain guide. The excursion will continue with a visit to a lava flow cave with helmets and torches. Afterwards, you will stop at an organic production company in Zafferana, where you can taste honey, wines, oils and other typical products. The tour will continue with a visit to the Alcantara. The excursion to the Alcantara river will make you discover the most varied aspects of this very particular water course. Walking along small paths that run along the so-called "delizi" (cultivated fields), you will reach the course of the river, from here you will be able to see the Gurne, natural pools created by the flow of water, ponds and tumultuous waterfalls set in a beautiful riparian vegetation. A walk through nature, history and traditions, where you can observe the ruins of the Francavilla Castle. The tour will end with a visit to the Gorges, canyons formed over the millennia by the flow of the river's waters on the Etna lava basalts. Here it will be possible to admire the columnar basalts, lava formations resulting from the erosion process and the slow cooling, which take on extraordinary shapes of various thickness and orientation.
