The best way to discover Appian Way and Aqueducts is by bike!
Do you want to discover the Eternal City from a dynamic and all-round perspective, do you love cycling and being on the move, and would you like to share your passion with your loved ones? Swap the hustle and bustle of the big city for a day in the countryside in this fantastic electric bike tour. Immerse yourself for a day in the vast green spaces of the Capital and its ancient Roman remains. The Appia Antica tour with entrance to the Catacombs of San Callisto or San Sebastiano is designed to do just that.
The catacombs were the first Christian cemeteries, found in various cities in Italy and North Africa. The most significant complex of catacombs is that of Rome, and among the most important are those of St Callistus and St Sebastian.
You will ride along the Appia Antica, one of the most important access roads to the city during the Roman Empire. Follow your local guide through imposing Aqueducts, and other landmarks such as Catacombs on the Appia Antica, the Circus of Maxentius (513 metres long and 91 metres wide at its widest point), the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, Quo Vadis and pass through the Appia Antica Regional Park.
Among the places you will see during your ride, the Mausoleum of Cecilia Matella is considered one of the symbols of the Via Appia. It is a funerary monument built between 30 and 10 B.C., which was reused in medieval times as the tower of a castle, still perfectly preserved. This construction still fascinates tourists today for its elegance and grandeur.
You can decide which monument you wish to visit with the 5-hour tour option. An expert guide will accompany you on this journey, telling you step by step the most characteristic anecdotes of the landscape that surrounds you. Whether you're with your family or in a group, this is a trip through history that will be hard to forget!
