Venture out in this packrafting experience on the waters that lead you to the Devil's Bridge of Lucca.
The Devil's Bridge in Lucca, whose original name is Ponte della Maddalena, was so nicknamed following the spread of a popular legend. In fact, it is said that for its construction, its master builder had to make a pact with the devil himself. Realizing that he was unable to complete the construction of the bridge on time, the man had to enlist the help of the Lord of Evil who, in return for his favor, asked him to sacrifice the soul of the first passerby who would cross the bridge. Despite the sealing of their pact, the master builder soon felt guilt and had the village priest suggest a plan to cheat the devil: to have a pig (according to other versions, a dog.) The evil one, ascertaining that he had been cheated, jumped off the bridge and, hence, the name was born.
