Full Description

A walking tour through the historical district of Castello, centre of social, political, cultural, military and religious life of the city from its foundation till today, visiting also the Archaeological Museum and the mysterious Giants of Mont’e Prama.

Castello, with its XIII century origin guards a few among the most important monuments of the city. Here you will walk along its aristocratic palaces, see its towers and bastions and visit the Cathedral of Saint Mary with its well-hidden gem: the crypt of the Saints and Martyrs. Our guide will tell you about the curiosities and oddities related to its history and the different populations that came and dominated the island and you will enjoy beautiful views over the city and the sea from its panoramic viewpoints. Subsequently, you will visit the Archaeological Museum, that hosts the findings of the most ancient civilizations of the island. Among them the mysterious Giants of Mont’e Prama. Consider to be the most ancient statues of big size of the Mediterranean area, the statues belong to the Nuragic civilization, a 100% native civilization that spread on the island about 1800 years before Christ and built enormous towers, the nuraghes.
