The Duomo of Florence was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, the same architect of Santa Croce and Palazzo Vecchio who began the project in 1294. After Arnolfo di Cambio, many other architects contributed to the final appearance of the building, which was completed in 1436. Inside the Duomo of Florence are outstanding works of art. From the floors delicately covered with multicolored marble to the inside of the dome covered with precious frescoes of the Last Judgment by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari, as well as the famous fresco of Dante before the city of Florence by Domenico di Michelino.
