Enjoy a guided tour of the Accademia Gallery and marvel at the masterpieces by Michelangelo and others. After a lunch break you’ll head out on a guided walking tour of Florence and explore the magnificent works of art at the world-famous Uffizi Gallery.

Visit first the Accademia Gallery where you will learn why the David is the most recognizable symbol of Florence and what it used to represent in his time. How did the genius of Michelangelo meet the challenge of extracting the pathos of a being and fixing it forever in time in the Pietà, or the famous Prisoners who still seem to struggle free from their marble blocks? You will have the answers to all your questions. Get the chance to have a close encounter with timeless works of art and get the inside story of the life and times of this consummate artist. After the guided tour you will have around 1 hour of free time to wander around on your own to have lunch (not included). The second part of the tour starts in the early afternoon with the walking tour in which you will enjoy an excellent and complete introductory tour dedicated to those who want to know all the facts and secrets of two thousand years of Florentine history. From the city’s Roman origins to a 15th century palace, from the Ponte Vecchio, through the famous Uffizi courtyard, to the wonders of the architecture of Brunelleschi’s Dome which overlooks the Baptistery golden ‘Gates of Paradise’. After the walking tour you will visit one of the most famous museums in the world: the Uffizi Gallery. Your knowledgeable guide will explain the works of the greatest artists from the Middle Ages. You will recognize original world-famous paintings you have seen in books, magazines, and on TV close-ups. You will learn about the secrets of the artist's’ craft, techniques and tools. Looking at the most famous artworks of the period, you will be able to understand why Florence was the birthplace of the Renaissance. This tour will give you the most complete introduction to the great renaissance city of Florence. La guía, Carmen, muy amable, nos lo explicó todo muy bien, seleccionando lo más importante. 5 hs de visita que no se hacen para nada largas, con tiempo para almorzar. Lo recomiendo mucho

It was a lot of walking. In the morning we did Academia and then walking tour of Florence (1 hour each). That guide was great! Very knowledgeable and personable. Then we had a 1 hour break for lunch. After that we switched guides and went into the Uffizi. Our guide was very knowledgeable but I felt she spent too much time going into great depths on paintings; like an art history class. I would have preferred a guide that gave overviews and allowed us to see more paintings. The Uffizi tour was 2+ hours yet we saw 40ish paintings. Overall it was still a great tour but be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes
