Sorrento is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy and located on the Sorrentine Peninsula at the south-eastern terminus of the Circumvesuviana rail line, within easy access from Naples and Pompeii. Sorrento is known for its citrus fruits and abundance of lemons so it is possible to spot small lemon groves and trees hidden among the buildings. A popular tourist destination, Sorrento and its scenic cities are renowned for their breathtaking cliffs, stunning coastal drives and their fresh local produce including limoncello. Notable landmarks in the town include the rebuilt cathedral, the 14th-century cloister of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Correale di Terranova Museum, containing an important collection of Campanian decorative art, medieval sculpture, paintings, and classical remains.
