The Vatican Museums are a part of the Vatican State, and a proper dress code is strictly enforced. Before entering, you will be required to go through security and a dress code check. Those dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to enter the premises. Inappropriate clothing includes: sleeveless clothing, low cut clothing, shorts above the knee, mini-skirts, and hats. Security personnel have the right to admit or deny any visitor based on choice of clothing (or even tattoos) that may offend the Catholic religion.
Please remember to dress appropriately and make prudent preparations before your day at the Vatican! On the day of your appointment, it is best to dress more conservatively out of caution.
