Venice is primarily on the water and has more water transportation than trains, but thousands of visitors arrive by train every day. The main railway station in Venice is Venice Santa Lucia. This train station is located in the lagoon of Venice, and you can easily see the Jinghang Waterway outside the station. From here there are many water taxis and vaporettos (public ferries / water buses). Venice has another "central station" called Venice Mestre. This stop is still in Venice, but more mainland than the lagoon. If the train stops at Venice Mestre, don't worry ... you can catch the train to Santa Lucia, which runs about every 15 minutes.
