It’s intelligent when travelling in Costiera Amalfitana to have a pre scheduling of the trip and the things to do. If you decide to go Amalfi Coast by car you have to stay in strategic places such as Salerno or Cava dei Tirreni where you can park your car and move around more easier with public transport. Otherwise you can taker a ferry or a private boat reaching in this way many places, enjoying a beautiful sight and avoiding traffic jams.
In Amalfi I recommend San’t Andrea Cathedral (Duomo of Amalfi). For lovers of Trekking, Valle delle ferriere is a great place, it is a path that starts at Duomo and proceeding across the Museum of Paper leads to ancient paper mills where “Amalfi card” was made.
The second place recommended to visit is Positano, walk into the center and you walking will reach the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (the Dome of Positano), and you can go in Via Cristoforo Colombo at the number 173, where you can see all the beauty of Positano and take beautiful pictures.
The Amalfi Coast, located in southern Italy, is indeed a stunning destination with its picturesque landscapes, charming towns, and rich history. Your recommendations for visiting the Amalfi Coast are quite helpful for travelers looking to explore this beautiful region. Here's a summary of your suggestions:
Pre-scheduling the Trip: Planning ahead and deciding on transportation options is a smart move. Staying in strategic locations like Salerno or Cava dei Tirreni can help you access public transport easily or take ferries/boats to avoid traffic.
Amalfi:
Visit the San't Andrea Cathedral (Duomo of Amalfi).
For trekkers, explore Valle delle Ferriere, a scenic path starting at the Duomo that leads to ancient paper mills.
For people who are staying in Salerno during this trip is recommended to dedicate one day visiting Amalfi and Positano together: with the first ferry in the morning reach Positano, then after lunch move to Amalfi, spend there the afternoon and then return to Salerno with the last ferry.
Positano: Explore the center and visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Capture beautiful views of Positano from Via Cristoforo Colombo.
Salerno: Consider dedicating a day to visiting both Amalfi and Positano by taking the morning ferry to Positano and returning to Salerno in the evening.
Vietri sul Mare, among the least known destinations in Amalfi Coast, deserves to be visited, it is famous for the ancient tradition of crafting and decorating ceramics. Vietri has an higher part for the houses and a part on the sea, where wide beaches are perfect for a day at the beach. For food lovers, there are a lot of typical wines plus the typical dishes of cuisine, you must taste the pasta “alla cuppitiello” (with seasonal vegetable sauce) and “palle di ciuccio”, characteristic sweet and potato croquettes.
Another place to be is Cetara, a quiet fishing village, there you can sense the true atmosphere of a coastal village. In the streets there are many shops and restaurants and bars where you can try fish, in particular “cuoppo di alici”, a cone wrapped in yellow paper with fried fish inside (anchovies), do not miss it! It is also worth tasting Colatura di Alici, the excellent condiment originally from Cetara made from anchovies. This small village offers also a lot of opportunities for sport activities, good food, beautiful sea and even is a paradise for windsurfers! Discover this lesser-known destination known for its ceramic traditions, beautiful beaches, and delicious cuisine. Don't miss the pasta "alla cuppitiello" and "palle di ciuccio."
Maiori and Minori are two other towns to visit, if you stay more than two or three days in Amalfi Coast with Sanctuary of Santa Maria a Mare. Once in Minori it is a must try Sal De Riso’s delizia al limone.
Then it is recommended to visit other cities: Ravello, Atrani, Furore, Agerola and Salerno, a city full of history and art. These towns, with the Sanctuary of Santa Maria a Mare, are worth visiting if you have more time. Try the "delizia al limone" in Minori.
Other Cities: Explore Ravello, Atrani, Furore, Agerola, and Salerno, each with its own history, art, and unique charm.
