Is Italy in Europe?

Italy is a country located in Europe. It is a founder member of the Organisation and joined the Council of Europe on 5 May 1949. 

It has been a member of the EU since 1958, of the euro zone since 1999 and of the Schengen area since 1997.

Today, the European Union has 27 Member States, including Germany, Austria and France.
