How is the Weather in Italy?

If you’re planning on traveling to Italy take into consideration the time you plan on visiting. Depending on what season you plan to travel, your experience will be very different. Whether you visit during the winter, spring, summer, or autumn, each season will give you different things to do in Italy. We also have some tours we recommend you do for each season! Now let us go over how the weather in Italy is during all four seasons.

How is the Weather in Italy during the Winter?

The weather in Italy during the winter is generally very mild as it never gets too cold in Sicily, Sardinia, or the southern mainland. However, the north does get cold, and it usually experiences some snowfall every year. If you plan on visiting Italy during the winter, you can expect certain parts of Italy to be very cold like Venice, Florence, the lake regions, and Tuscany. Don’t worry though, there is still plenty for you to do during the winter as winter sports are very popular in Italy, and you can find families at ski resorts on many weekends in the Northern Alps and Southern Apennines. Bolzano is an excellent spot in Italy for Christmas shopping and you can even visit the Dolomites from Bolzano with our Dolomites which you can learn more about by clicking the link below!

How is the Weather in Italy during the Spring?

If you are planning on visiting Italy during the spring then you’re in luck because spring is one of the best times to visit Italy. The weather is close to perfect, and there are less tourists than in the summer. Usually by the end of March, it is warm enough outside to enjoy walks, dining outside, and maybe even taking a swim! However, it generally does not get hot enough for long days on the beach at the end of May. We highly recommend you book our tour of the beautiful villages of Puglia if you’re looking to do some sightseeing in the spring. Click on the link more to learn more about the tour!

How is the Weather in Italy during the Summer?

Should you decide to visit Italy during the summer plan ahead because summer is generally very hot in Italy, with temperatures averaging above 24 C or 75 F. It is cooler in the northern lake region, and it gets hotter the more south you go. It is too hot for most people unless visiting a coast, where you can cool off in water or with the ocean breeze. However, summer is when most people tend to visit Italy so expect very large crowds at the beach. But if you’re able to go to the beach, we recommend you check out our full day beach tour to the Ionian coast. Click the link below to learn more about this tour!

How is the Weather in Italy during the Autumn?

Just like spring, autumn is a beautiful time to visit Italy. The temperatures are warm and comfortable during the day, and it cools off at night. It is also the harvest season in September and October, making it a great time to visit Tuscany! We highly recommend you book our private full day tour of Rome during September as September is considered to be one of the best times to visit Rome.
