In Italy, to access a church there is usually no need to pay for the entrance, because most of them are free admission. Nevertheless, a small contribuite may be demanded, when it comes to churches which have to preserve the art iniside their structures. But this doesn't concern people who regularly attend them. Indeed, these fees are typically asked to people who are siteseeing. Other cases in which people may have to pay are when they require an audioguide, which has a cost, or when they don't want to wait in a queue and choose to purchase a skip-the-line ticket - suitable especially for those who don't have much time.
