A day in Positano

A day in Positano

How to get to Positano

Going to Positano on your own can be a bit tricky because there are no direct trains. If you're leaving from Rome and want to have an uneventful trip (taking into account possible delays) then you can take the Circumvesuviana regional train to Sorrento; otherwise you can head directly to the Napoli Centrale station. The trip will be aboard a high-speed Acela Express train (efficient and comfortable), which will take you to the picturesque center of Positano, where you can also stop for lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants there. After that, you can proceed the itinerary by taking one of the two local SITA buses or hire a private driver for a distance of about 15 minutes.

Absolutely stunning coastlines are only one aspect that make up the beauty of Italy. If you're not an experienced traveler, I recommend taking a private transfer or guided tour to Positano for your trip's convenience and safety! These will be more expensive than public transportation but it'll take all stress off as well since many guides include stops at ruins along their route like the famous Pompeii.

 What is the itinerary?

The town of Positano is famous for its photogenic views. When you look up, colorful homes on cliffs over the ocean can be seen- this has made it one popular tourist destination from all around Europe! Before going into too much sun I recommend exploring these winding alleyways filled with art galleries and boho boutiques as well cute restaurants or street vendors selling their goods on what seems like every corner they turn in these streets lined by tons if not hundreds of meters long hotels that line both sides making them perfect spot to take photos under sunny skies. Stop in at limoncello shops for a free sample! You'll be glad you did, trust me. If you have a short break before dinner, we suggest you see Santa Maria Assunta church - this one has an amazing tiled dome and ancient Roman ruins beneath its grounds too- plus, during your day they have weddings going down every hour from rich Italian citizens all visitors can watch.

Lunch with a view

Taking some time to enjoy lunch is an essential part of exploring the coast. You can have wine and seafood at one or many restaurants overlooking your favorite beach where you'll also find limoncello shots for dessert.

A takeaway panini will make it easier (but still delicious) if only staying in town rather than going out into nature with this amazing foodstuff available right there waiting on hand-held carts throughout every corner store near me.

Are there too many people during summer?

Well, actually Positano has two sides: the public beach and the private one. The disadvantage? Definitely, if you arrive at the free beach after lunch, it will be more difficult to find an open free space. On the other hand, if you don't like having too many people around and prefer to enjoy the morning breeze, then we recommend arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

What can we do if it is too hot?

On a hot and sunny day in Positano there is nothing better than renting a boat and exploring the coast. There are a number of companies that offer private dinghies with skippers for about 180 euros per hour - more than enough time if you want to explore all the nooks and crannies of this beautiful area! If, on the other hand, you are looking for a less expensive but still refreshing and handy activity, your choice is the kayak excursion across the rivers.

Where to take a picture in the sunset in Positano?

A mandatory stop on the tour will be to take some incredible photos of the sunset seen here in Positano.

The sunset in Positano is very special, in fact the sun sets around 8:30 pm giving us sensational shades ranging from yellow to purple. If, on the other hand, it is unfortunately already time to go home, you will have a good reason to return to Positano on your next romantic getaway.
