Taking a day trip to the town of Carrara is perfect for any traveler visiting Italy. Whether you’re an art lover or seeking adventure, there are plenty of reasons to visit the ancient town of Carrara. The town is located two hours outside of Florence which you can reach by either car or train. We highly recommend you visit Carrara during the summer or warmer seasons as the days are typically clearer for better views! Carrara is a lovely place to spend an entire day as the buildings are very colorful and the local inhabitants there are lively. We also recommend you spend a couple hours in the morning exploring the town and checking out places like the Marble Duomo and the Museo del Marmo.
A visit to the marble mountain in the afternoon is an absolute must while you’re visiting Carrara. When you reach the top of the mountain, you’ll get to see never-ending views of the Apuan Alps and see the bright blue sea reflecting off the white stone. We recommend you check out the beach before you head back to Florence.
