Capitoline Museums

Numerous well-known works of art may be seen in the Capitoline Museums, most notably the original Capitoline Wolf sculpture. The museum is situated in the Michelangelo-designed Piazza del Campidoglio, close to Rome's Forum Romane. An underground tunnel connects the two structures, and at its conclusion, you'll find what some consider to be one of Italy's coolest features: the Tabularium, a room with holes where records were once kept secretly but are now open to the public.

Galleria Borghese

Any art enthusiast must visit the Galleria Borghese. The museum has some of the most stunning works of art ever created, including paintings by Caravaggio, Raphael, and even sculptures by Bernini!

If you don't want your day in Rome to be ruined by waiting in one particular location, you may easily explore on foot because it is situated inside Villa Borghese, the third-largest park in Italy (although there are limited numbers).

Vatican Museums

A place of art for people of all ages is the Vatican Museums. There are many cathedrals in Rome that are worth visiting for individuals with interests in history and religion, including The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, both of which were built by Michelangelo. However, if you prefer something more contemporary, head to Piazza del Popolo, where the majority of contemporary artists exhibit their works instead. This hilltop location offers breathtaking views of Lake Trasimeno, which was once home to ancient lakeside settlements; additionally, it is close to the Director Boriville Bridge.

Palazzo Doria Pamphilj

Despite not being as well-known or popular with tourists visiting Rome, Palazzo Doria Pamphilj ought to be one of their top stops. From Renaissance paintings in various rooms throughout the palace up to classical sculpture collections on exhibit outside at the Belttowers entranceway, the museum has an outstanding collection that spans ages and genres. The structure was handcrafted, and it features lovely design features like the arcade pavilion roofs, which are now often only found abroad but are still present inside this Italian Residential Palace-Museum.

MAXXI Museum

One of the few museums of modern art in Rome is the MAXXI Museum. It is one of Rome's only museums dedicated to modern art. In contrast to other structures that are centuries old or totally constructed of classical materials like marble stones and stone blocks, this one has a distinctive and modern design.

The building of this ten-year project took more than ten years to complete, and British architect Zaha Hadid also built installations for some of the interior spaces, such as lights that shine down upon particular areas so that guests can explore their feelings through color.
